Privacy policy

This policy explains what happens to personal data you send us through shorepower.energy, why we hold it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who is responsible for your data

shorepower.energy is operated by Marine Trade Finance SL, which is the data controller for everything described here. The company is in the process of being incorporated in Spain; until that completes, its founders are responsible for the data described on this page, at the same address, and this page will be updated with the registered details once they exist.

What we collect, and why

The project enquiry form

If you send us a project through the form on this site, we receive the fields you fill in: your name, your company, your work email address, the role you select, the port or project location, the project type, and whatever you write in the free text box. If you attach a specification or a tender document, we receive that document and anything in it.

We use this to read your enquiry, work out whether the project is one we can help with, and reply to you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and where that does not apply, our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) in responding to business enquiries addressed to us.

Technical data attached to the form

When the form is submitted, our server records the IP address it came from and the time of submission alongside the message. We use that to trace abuse and to have a record of when something reached us. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) in keeping the form usable and knowing what we received and when.

Hosting logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests to the site, which include IP addresses. Those are the provider's operational logs, kept for security and troubleshooting, and we do not use them to build any profile of you.

Analytics

This site uses GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count visits. It sets no cookies and does not collect personal data or build a profile of you: it records aggregate page views, the referring site, and an approximate country, and nothing that identifies you. We use it only to see which pages are read and where visitors come from. See the cookies policy for the detail.

Beyond that, this site runs no advertising tags and no third-party trackers. We do not run automated decision making, and we do not build marketing lists from people who happen to visit.

The map and the Esri basemap

The map pages draw their background tiles from Esri (ArcGIS), a third-party map provider. Loading a map means your browser requests those tiles directly from Esri's servers, which necessarily discloses your IP address to Esri. That request is governed by Esri's own privacy terms, not ours. Everything else on the map, the connection data itself, is served as static files from our own site.

Who else sees your data

• Our hosting and email provider, which stores the site and carries the enquiry email to our inbox. They act on our instructions as a processor and do not use your data for their own purposes.
• Funders and insurers, only with your agreement. Our business is arranging funding through a panel of third parties, so at some point we may need to put your project in front of them. We do not do that until you have agreed to it. If you send us an enquiry and we never reach that agreement, your project does not leave us.
• Professional advisers and authorities, where we are required by law to disclose something or need advice on a matter that involves your enquiry.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Where your data goes

We are established in Spain and your data is handled in the European Economic Area. Where a provider we use processes data outside the EEA, we rely on the transfer mechanisms the GDPR allows, in practice the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision covering that country.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence and any document you send while we are dealing with the project, and for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, so that we can pick a conversation back up and answer questions about what was discussed. After that we delete it, unless commercial, tax or anti-money-laundering law requires us to hold it longer, or it relates to a live or threatened dispute.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what personal data of yours we hold, and give you a copy
• correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• delete it
• restrict what we do with it
• hand it over in a portable format, or send it to someone else
• stop processing that relies on our legitimate interest, where your situation gives you grounds to object

Write to enquiries@shorepower.energy. We will answer within one month. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first and give us a chance to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, at www.aepd.es, or to the supervisory authority where you live or work.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we do with personal data, we change this page and move the date at the top. Analytics on this site is limited to the privacy-friendly, cookieless measurement described above. If we ever add anything that profiles you or reads data from your device, we will say so plainly rather than leave it to be discovered here.
